Marko Savić is a business innovation researcher and professional that brings fresh approach to the business planning and business modelling, especially in the field of non-technological and design innovations.

I worked with Marko on a project proposal dealing with emerging business models for global marketing of health information solutions. Even if the proposal was not awarded I benefited from co-working with Marko and knowing better his skills and competences. Upon his personal invitation I had the opportunity to attend his workshop – New business model design in Ljubljana, at the Kino Šiška Centre for Urban Culture on December 2012. It was part of his workshop series where he presented the new business innovation processes especially to younger audiences.

The organisation of the workshop was excellent – from very informal registration with tea, relaxed atmosphere during the sessions to the final presentations of solutions. I was impressed by an innovative approach to actively engage the participants into the process of business modelling. Marko’s presentation is a perfect combination of ex-cathedra approach and practical recommendations for public presentations. In my opinion Marko showed extraordinary skills in managing and leading very diverse groups of participants at the workshop. He offered them the opportunity to try out different roles and responsibilities in business modelling. Such an approach allows to present different business model idea prototypes. Last but not least, the time planning and time management of the workshop sessions were excellent.

I consider Marko not only a superb Trainer of the innovative approach in business modelling, but also a skilful author of the book on Business Models Design in Slovene (Business Models Design: where is the key to additional value in vigorous organisations?). I was pleased to read his book that presents some exciting cases of new business models related to design innovation and design thinking.

Finally, I would like to use this opportunity to thank Marko for his pro-bono seminar on Values in Business Modelling (developed for the European project Design for Europe) for the students of our Faculty. It was really well received. With the above capability, I find Marko as a person of considerable impact for different communities.

I trust that choosing my colleague Marko, you’ll get a very dedicated and passionate business innovation researcher with excellent communication and social skills, and also a nice and wholehearted person. —Metka Stare, PhD, Research Professor, Centre of International Relations, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana

From the moment we started working with Vizuarna in 2008, they listened very closely to what we wanted in terms of the design and format, before developing the unique interactive annual report design system – 365i.

Each year our brief was more demanding but Vizuarna and especially its Managing Director, Marko Savić, MA, MBA, responded with new innovative solutions. The design and interactivity of the 2010 Ljubljanske mlekarne annual report meets our needs precisely.

It tells the story of our company, which grows into the future oriented company. —Renata Lovrak, Director of Corporate Communications at Ljubljanske mlekarne

In autumn of 2013 we conducted a business modelling workshop with Mr. Marko Savić, MA, MBA.

In mid 2013 Marand had it’s Think!EHR Platform software developed to a level that needed a go-to-market strategy. Many possible ways were opening up and among them a pressing need for a new website became apparent. We knew there were multiple target audiences that we needed to touch, however we found it necessary to link the communication with all these audiences to a solid business thinking. Business modelling seemed to be the answer to the challenge. That’s why we invited Marko, one of the leading business modelling professionals in Slovenia, to conduct a two-days business model innovation workshop with us.

There was no hesitation about engaging Marko Savić, however we did have a hesitation about whether business modelling would fit into our culture that lauds technological brilliance over everything else. Nevertheless, Marand did realise that business modelling is a methodology that we should at least learn about if not directly practice.

We were satisfied with the delivery of a two-days business model innovation workshop by Marko Savić. Two things stood out:

  • one) Marko never faltered when he required at least 15 of the best people of Marand to participate. This requirement was tremendously helpful because it established top level importance of the workshop even before the workshops started.
  • two) Marko’s overall delivery of the workshop was solid but not superior throughout the workshop, however the ending, his last business model canvas that he created personally in front of the whole group was great. And not just that, it had a lasting impact in Marand.

The target audiences and their roles was the main benefit of the business coaching, plus their intertwining became apparent and all of these was carried onto our subsequent work. The web page www.marand-think.com was launched in April 2014, international business success came soon after that.

It is hard to say that Marko’s workshop had a direct link to the successes, yet we do acknowledge that bringing together of our software and business teams is important, and Marko’s workshop accomplished this.

We recommend Marko as a business model development coach. His understanding of contemporary theory and practice is sound, his delivery is strong, with a devotion that tops all. —Roland Petek, Procurator, Marand

Marko is a very good, dedicated and positive presentation coach.

Through his guidance, encouragement and support I went on to win Best Presentation Award with our team at the European Innovation Design Workshops in Oslo (video, 5:36 minutes) this year.

Marko was very clear and in control throughout his coaching and I highly recommend him. His help enabled me to deliver a successful and effective presentation to a large group. —Aisling Joyce, Architect at Office of Public Works

The workshop was dynamic and it certainly offered a lot of interesting cues.

The starting point was the business models design, but such experience includes also aspects of a teamwork, adaption to new situations, quick thinking and optimizing the performance.

It’s commendable that special emphasis has been devoted to the presentation of design thinking process, which plays a key role in designing new business models and consequently has a major impact on the long-term development of enterprises. —Helena Franca, Independent Design Professional

First, a general assessment of the workshop: Satisfied!

In the past I’ve already been on a similar but shorter workshop. I have already used Business Model Canvas for the reflection of our own business model. And I have even put Canvas in some training that I’ve undertaken. From the workshop, I expected to deepen that knowledge, and that I’ll be able to work on my own business model.

In designing its own business model I see a key problem in the fragmentation. Many small areas, taking time and energy, and one cannot draw a whole from a financial point of view. But they have a common denominator and challenges is how through this common denominator connect the dots together or maybe to cut some things off.

My feelings at the workshop were comfortable. There were no aversions. I liked the way of learning by working.

I would even attend another similar workshop. I love to work in on one business model in several iterations. And gain some new knowledge about the business models design.

The key value that I gained at the workshop is my awareness of the need to do prototyping of business models. One doesn’t necessarily need to use a lot of time for each iteration.

At the workshop I enjoyed the most the rapid prototyping of the business models and the spaghetti game. At least I liked some parts of the guest lecture.

If I name the three things at the workshop that were the most useful to me: + the mode of working, which was a very dynamic and cooperative; working in groups and the time limit which gives me inspiration for my own trainings; Marko’s slightly provocative way of coaching inspired me for my own work; + a practice of making business models itself; + Four variants of a business model for my case.

I will recommend this workshop to others because they will improve the skill of business models design, which is useful when considering one’s own company or project. If they already have a concrete idea or even a company, they will be motivated to reevaluate or reconsider it. —Danilo Kozoderc, Education and Innovation Management Consultant
